Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann meets Myanmar embassy staff in Washington D.C

A Myanmar delegation led by Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and the Pyithu Hluttaw Thura U Shwe Mann met with Myanmar embassy staff at the residence of the Myanmar ambassador in Washington D.C on 2 May.

At the meeting, the speaker urged the embassy staff to play their roles in the transition to democracy and market economy.

Then, the speaker met with Myanmar affairs activists at the residence of the ambassador and received an open letter.

On 3 May, the delegation led by the speaker visited Mount Vernon in Washington DC and laid wreaths at the tombs of the wife and relatives of George Washington before sailing along the Potomac River.

The delegation also visited the Pentagon Memorial, the Airforce Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorial.
